Childbirth is the most unique and transforming experience that a woman is given. It is a detriment for future generations to see this opportunity for empowerment and growth be forgotten in the world. It is a blessing when this right of passage is understood and embraced. Childbirth is a gift. Our bodies are capable and it is our responsibility to remember that.

My name is Lonnie Drury, I am a childbirth educator and trained doula who has been studying the birth process for over 10 years. My interest in natural birth was inspired by my sister and her choices in how she birthed her children. When I became pregnant, the passion for birth increased and I couldn't get my hands on enough information about it. I have been blessed to have experienced two empowering homebirths.
There are many misonceptions today about childbirth that can sometimes lead to less than desireable outcomes for mothers and their babies. I think it is important to educate women with good information about their choices in childbirth so that they can be prepared and in control of their experience...otherwise, their experience may be taken away from them without the choice. I am committed to helping women prepare for their important journey through pregnancy, birth and motherhood.
I live in Northern BC where I like to gather with other women for sharing and knitting. I enjoy brisk walking and a good cup of tea. I am sharing a couple of photos of myself, children, mother, sister and husband - who all inspire me in some way.
